Our Guiding Values

Accountability

A critical component of integrity, accountability involves taking responsibility for what we do, and having the courage to hold others accountable. Intelligent Insights maintains a high level of accountability both in making decisions and in evaluating and acknowledging outcomes. We can help your organization learn to value and foster accountability as well.

Continuous Improvement

As individuals and organizations, it is important that we continuously look for opportunities to better ourselves. As organizations, this increases our ability to remain competitive, to maximize efficiency and effectiveness, and to innovate. Intelligent Insights is committed to modeling and promoting a mind set of continuous improvement for groups and individuals.

Feedback Is A Gift

A corollary of the continuous improvement principle is that constructive feedback is a gift. If we are to truly evaluate ourselves we must seek the input of others as we assess our performance and seek ways of improving. This may involve seeking input from customers, clients, bosses, direct reports, friends, family, and colleagues, and using this information to identify opportunities for improving and enhancing ourselves. At Intelligent Insights we are always seeking feedback as well as additional opportunities for learning and growth.

Integrity

Like other intangibles, integrity may be hard to define, but you know it when you see it, and you certainly know when it’s lacking. At Intelligent Insights, we are committed to acting with integrity in all aspects of what we do. Before making a decision we make sure it fits with our values. The primary determinant of the service we’ll offer you or your organization is your needs; we will not offer you services you don’t need to boost our profit. We aim to keep our expenses low so we can provide affordable service to our clients, and we are committed to providing quality service and deliverables.

Sustainability

According to wikipedia.com, "Sustainability is a systemic concept, relating to the continuity of economic, social, institutional and environmental aspects of human society, as well as the non-human environment. It is intended to be a means of configuring civilization and human activity so that society, its members and its economies are able to meet their needs and express their greatest potential in the present, while preserving biodiversity and natural ecosystems, and planning and acting for the ability to maintain these ideals in a very long term. Sustainability affects every level of organization, from the local neighborhood to the entire planet."

We are committed to sustainability both in the context of the mindset and practice of seeking to optimize environmental impact, and in the context that organizations and communities, even individuals, need to establish practices and ways of being that are sustainable long-term.

Systems Thinking

In today’s complex organizations, it is tempting to treat each of our processes or systems as separate. But chances are, changes made in one department will affect what is done in another department. Changes to technology will require process changes and perhaps employee development. And so on. We recognize the need to keep at the forefront of our thinking the idea that we must view an organization, even our community, as a single system, including people and processes as well as systems and technology. Only then will the right steps be taken to ensure long-term positive impact.

Value Diversity

Valuing diversity is not just about accepting people of different ethnicity, age, gender, and background. To truly value diversity, we must acknowledge that we can accomplish more by bringing together individuals with different perspectives. At Intelligent Insights we not onlyappreciate each individual regardless of demographics, but also appreciate the value of diverse groups.

~ The Story ~

Dr. Heidi Wiesenfelder received her M.A. and Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology from Vanderbilt University. Her B.S. in Psychobiology was earned at the University of Southern California. Her graduate research focused on neuroscience, specifically the ways in which the brain processes visual motion and binocular input (information from both eyes combined). Dr. Wiesenfelder authored several research papers in peer-reviewed journals.

After obtaining her degrees, Dr. Wiesenfelder moved into a Student Affairs position at the university, as Director of the Jewish campus organization. In this role as both nonprofit leader and student affairs member, her responsibilities spanned vast areas including technology, marketing, fundraising, and supporting the larger academic and inerfaith communities. During her tenure, the Jewish campus organization began taking advantage of technology, obtained space on campus, and increased its fundraising efforts and results, as well as initiating a rabbinical student internship.

In 1997 Dr. Wiesenfelder moved to Tucson and began a 7-year stint at Intuit Inc. She held a variety of roles that involved data analysis, database work, leadership development, process improvement, and training/facilitation. She became a Certified Six Sigma Black Belt, and provided training in process management and leadership to others throughout the company.

In 2005 Dr. Wiesenfelder founded a new company, Intelligent Insights, in order to provide assistance to her community’s smaller organizations, both nonprofit and for-profit. With her broad experience and skills, passion and compassion, she provides customized, integrated services to organizations that are ready to take it up a notch across the board, and would benefit from her expertise and perspective. She is also open to assisting individuals in a coaching and tutoring capacity.

In addition to consulting work, Heidi serves as a part-time graduate advisor for Prescott College's Master of Arts Program, an adult degree program. She has worked with students in Organizational Psychology, Nonprofit Management, and Education.

Heidi is President of the Board of the Animal Welfare Alliance of Southern Arizona, and Immediate Past President of the Board of The Hermitage Cat Shelter, Tucson’s no-kill no-cage cat sanctuary and adoption center. In her work with nonprofits she continues to seek excellence in leadership, processes, and use of technology. In 2005 she completed United Way’s Multicultural Leadership Development Program, and joined the United Way Incusion Council.

In her so-called free time, Heidi works on her conversational Spanish skills, and is able to converse in Spanish at a respectable level. She also enjoys learning about and collecting art from around the world, and is particularly enamored of the art and history of Latin America.

She has recently become involved with the Amazon Herb Company, a company which shares her values and allows her to make a difference for people and animals here and in the Amazon Rainforest. While not directly related to her consulting business, her work with the herbs ties in with her goal of helping others improve, enhance and transform themselves. Her Amazon Herb site can be accessed here.

In 2008 she launched her new site, PeoplePetsPlanet.net, providing resources and assistance for those who want to make a difference for people, pets and the planet. And with her business partner, Kay Aubrey-Chimene, Heidi has just launched Healthy Choices for Animals, providing education and coaching for those who are ready to learn how to help their companion animals live healthier lives.
